Airline rules are set for many different aspects and many different categories. Each airline has set many rules whether for passengers or travel agents.

When it comes to reissue a ticket, the main question from your customer will be “How much will it cost?”

Awareness should be built in your customer’s mind that each airline has specific rules for specific classes for their requests. Sometimes,you can change your flight without incurring fees, but this is not always possible. Therefore, it’s important to inform your customer before selling your ticket.

Your ticket type will play an important role to define the charges and penalties of the reissue.

If you sell a ticket on a specific airline that their rule doesn’t allow the passenger to change the ticket (non-changeable), then a penalty fee has to be paid if the passenger wishes to  change his/her ticket.

In case a  ticket was non-changeable and same class (as the one you booked) was not available, then you need to pay for the:

1. Change penalty
2. Fare difference

Which means that you need to deal with two costs.

The passenger should be aware of airline’s rules, fare changes and any related information about the ticket so as you can do:

• Offer more transparency.
• Build better awareness for your passenger about airlines rules.
• Gain more loyal customers.
• Avoid misunderstandings with your customers.
• Set a clearer image of your responsibilities and roles to the customer and ensure that when it comes to airlines rules, it’s no longer an aspect you can handle as long as the passenger has confirmed the ticket.

Each class for each ticket will have a different rule and different characteristics. Make sure your customers know them and have read all the rules and terms.
